Hello there,

My name is David and I have been extract brewing since I was 4 (my great-grandmother was one of the top bootleggers up in Rockford during Prohibition so it was only natural that the subsequent generations have a healthy appreciation for booze)

Anyways, I've gotten to the point where extract just doesn't do it for me anymore and I'm interested in moving up to all-grain but I'm curious as to what would be the best equipment to start with. I'd like to make a 10 gallon Rubbermaid MLT found HERE but beyond that and a large brew kettle I'm not too sure what extra equipment I would need. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I'm looking forward to going to the next ABNormal meeting at Fat Jack's. Hopefully my latest Honey Amber will be ready (just bottled it last night so I'm not holding my breath that it'll be ready).

If you are interested in all-grain, take the time to watch a few others brew. Then formulate your own opinion on what you prefer in equipment.

I didn't have anyone to watch when I started all-grain (100 years ago), so I had to stumble-fumble my way...

stumbling and fumbling should be left to AFTER you brewed. Very Happy

Watch someone else brew.... If you come to a meeting (or watch on the this forum) a few guys post when they brew just so others can join them. Check it out!

Don

David,
Don is absolutely right. I brewed my first all grain batch with Don, (I watched him brew) over 15 years ago!
