Just curious who out there makes their own beer labels and what process you use, along with what labels you use. Below is a label I made yesterday in photoshop for the Winter Warmer I just bottled.

The Beaver and his chewed log is a chainsaw carving I have. I took a pic of the beaver in front of a gray sheet and then using the magic wand in Photoshop I copied just the beaver and his log. The rest of the label was an image i found online, in which i removed the existing graphics and lettering that were on it, covering them up basically with the clone stamp. I set it up like a template so I can change any of the lettering to whatever I want.

My big concern is I didn't pay attention to the size of the image and it's a tad on the small size. Works ok but I have to keep them small. I'll probably redo it soon and add to it the chainsaw carved name log I have that goes with the beaver to see what I can come up with.

I use some label paper made for beer bottles. I got it from northern brewer and it's just a moisture activated adhesive on one side. It works ok but I'd like to find a good peel and stick alternative that comes off easily. The labels I have say they come off easy but I haven't tried to be honest. I'm sure they do but applying them is a bit of a pain and they usually end up with a couple of water spots from the ink getting damp.

So if you know of a good label paper I'd love to know about it!

I used to do labels for all my brews. To attach the lables I always used plain paper and glue stick. The glue stick comes off easily. Doesn't work well if the bottle is to be wet though as the glue releases when wet. Using plain paper will also allow the ink to run in a wet environment.

My wife plans to label our beers for her birthday party. We are currently brewing "9" and "4th base".

I dont know what her plan is exactly but I know it involves laminating the labels. I think she might just tape them to the bottles.

For our purposes, the lables dont have to stick well, they just need it hold on long enough to pour.

label paper from midwest supplies. easy on and off. mltiple color options. if you plan to cool in a cooler on ice do not put labels on. $5 for 18 sheets (8.5x11). approx 6 labels per sheet.
