I've noticed at the meetings lately a lot of us would like to know what name goes with which person. I thought a simple way to get this going is just a thread with our picture and name, and perhaps a little bit of our personal brewing history. So, I'm starting it off here, don't be shy!

I'm Chad. I'm the Internet Sales Manager at Rebbec Pontiac Buick in Normal. www.rebbecpontiacbuick.com. I started brewing about 3 years ago but just as I started all grain brewing I stopped and didn't start back up until 6 months ago, after about a 2 year break.

When I got back into brewing, I went full force! I started off with brewing up some extract brews to fill up the new 7 tap kegerator I decided to build. After a couple months of that I broke out the all grain equipment, and decided it was time to upgrade that, so started on my brew sculpture.

Thanks to help from club member Adam, I was able to get it plumbed right into the natural gas in my workshop and now no more propane tanks! I brew regularly, almost every week but it works out to about 3 brews a month. I just started on 10gal batches, so I'll be brewing less now, well, in a little while I will! Summer is right around the corner and as much as I love to brew, I really like to enjoy the outdoors, especially in my new house.

So, I've brewed frequently and will continue to do so for the next couple months in order to stock up enough beer to get through the summer months for the most part. I'll be spending a good chunk of time tending to the 10 hop varities I'm planting here soon!

I'm Ben:

(The "tie" is a sticky note, with stripes drawn on.)

Most likely the only college kid around here, I started brewing mead in the summer '07. Although there are a couple of quick meads, most recipes you'll find take at least six months before they're even drinkable, so I started on beer as a way to pass the time before my wines were available.

So far I'm still doing extracts with specialty grains. When I get the gumption to get some more equipment I'll move up to all-grain, but I'm quite content for now.
